Akhet is a hieroglyphic symbol from our Nubian ancestors in the Nile Valley, depicting the sun rising between two mounds. When we align our lives with the movement of the sun, we gain much more confidence and joy in the fulfillment of our goals.
The sun is the center and source of life. We are intrinsically connected with this powerful star through our own life force, inner self and spirit soul which burns like a flame within us, animating our bodies with the tangible memory of our loved ones. Sunlight gives us the infinite well of creativity, abundance of natural resources and ancestral consciousness that we depend on to survive.Â
Thousands of years ago, our ancient African ancestors constructed highly advanced civilizations in synchronicity with solar cycles. The way we experienced time back then was very different. We began a new day at noon rather than midnight, and we began a new year in spring rather than winter.Â
This meant that we associated beginnings with greater sunlight and the regeneration of the ecosystem. On the current Gregorian calendar, we associate beginnings with the depth of winter, nighttime and darkness. We are conditioned to continue moving, even though nature is calling us to slow down and rest. This causes our circadian rhythm to be thrown off balance and has a harmful effect on our collective health and self identity.
As we celebrate the new year, it’s important we remember that winter is a moment to hibernate and recharge. The true new year begins in the spring.Â
Enrollment is now open for Navigating Eternity.
Navigating Eternity is a holistic time management and accountability system designed by my sister Aust NeferKa, a revolutionary farmer and founder of Tehuti Ma’at, with the intention of restoring us back into our ancient African cosmology. It includes an online course and group coaching sessions that provide valuable resources, community support and sacred space to develop our personal visions for the future within the context of solar cycles. Through this experience, we are able to strengthen our sense of purpose, uncover deep wisdom from our ancestral lineages and maximize our healing journeys together.
Everyone is born with a purpose that’s unique to our individual starprint. The level of awareness that we each have of our purpose determines our ability to succeed. For the African diaspora, the multitude of challenges and obstacles we face in modern society as marginalized people has disconnected us from our purpose.Â
Some of us have grown up feeling different from our environment — the black sheep — and we are the first person in our families to initiate a shift of some kind, such as breaking generational curses and starting new traditions. Our existence facilitates the global awakening toward truth, harmony and justice. If this sounds resonant, then Navigating Eternity is for you.
The destruction of our ancestral homelands and traditions through global industrialization resulted in our experience of time from a place of lack and anxious attachment. We often fear that we don’t have enough time to do this or that, so we construct our lives around this fear.
However, true time is more similar to our concept of space — there’s an endless amount of time that expands beyond horizons. In reality, we define time through our decisions. What we do as we move through time is what truly matters. This modality of experiencing time is inherent for ancient indigenous people.
The Djed (pronounced jed) is an annual mentorship program in the Navigating Eternity holistic time management system that includes bimonthly group coaching sessions on Zoom. This Kemetic (Ancient Egyptian) symbol located in the center of the above image represents the human spine. The spine is our divine column of stability that holds us upright, connecting us to the heavens. As the inspiration for our sessions, this symbol helps us to commune with the support of solid structure and organization.Â
The first time I participated in the Djed during the winter season in 2021 was a magical experience of ancestral guidance and reunification with my higher purpose. I’m participating in the accountability community again this year, and I invite you to join me.
This program is a seasonal commitment on Sunday afternoons from January 7 to March 24. We will begin another round in April. For 3 monthly payments of $88 or a discounted one-time contribution of $222, you will have access to Tehuti Ma’at online classes and exclusive gatherings, resources for empowerment in the Amos Wilson Collective such as an archive of books, warrior workout sessions and healing cyphers, Coins & Cowries care kits containing handcrafted spiritual goods such as herbal medicine, crystal jewelry and incense, as well as the Djed.
